  55.         Around six months ago, when I first recieved a copy of the ( I hope )
  56.  public domain program NoiseTracker v2.0 by Per Tufvesson and Anders
  57.  Berkeman I immediately started to spend all of my spare time learning to
  58.  use the thing. The first few pieces of music that I came up with, using
  59.  this wonderful tool, were too nice to be considered listenable. Also, most
  60.  of the sound samples that I had at the time were Monty Python type things.
  61.  Now that I have found a few more musical sounds ( drums , synthesisers and
  62.  stuff ) I have a much narrower choice of sound ( sound weird ? ), simply
  63.  meaning that voices and speech are out, synthesisers are in. Anyway, this
  64.  is the first piece of music that I could say I have completed, and here it
  65.  is. Please listen to it. Please email me your comments ( criticism either
  66.  way would be dearly appreciated ).
  67.         My background in music is purely experimental. I have had about six
  68.  recorder lessons in my life so can not call myself a musician as such. But
  69.  when I was thirteen, I discovered a love for playing acoustic guitar ( the
  70.  type with nylon strings) and electronics. So I taught myself guitar,
  71.  bought a bunch of electronics, and started playing with tape recorders and
  72.  oscillators.
  73.        'Negligent' is constructed ( showing my mechanical attitude toward
  74.  music ) in the style of Tangerine Dream, but is not in any great way
  75.  similar to any piece of theirs, as far as I know. At first I worked on
  76.  NoiseTracker. Then when I discovered that if you keep clicking the insert
  77.  gadget and the length of the piece goes past 128 blocks, you push the last
  78.  blocks off the end. I.e it cannot handle a module of length more than 128
  79.  blocks. Not only that, but IntuiTracker will crash ( sometimes ). In
  80.  short, neither program will recognise any blocks after number 127, So I
  81.  moved it to Med ( Another great piece of software by the Finnish guy whose
  82.  name escapes me currently ). This is my explanation for why there are two
  83.  versions. The first is the full Med version that I am reasonably happy
  84.  with. The second is an edited down version especially for NoiseTracker and
  85.  IntuiTracker. You will have noticed the NoiseTracker song dump above,
  86.  which I have edited to show the blocks of both versions. Hooray for Cmd
  87.  device redirection :-)... The full version goes for around 10:40 minutes.
